Under administrative direction from the Public Health Director, assists in planning, directing, organizing, administering, reviewing and evaluating public health programs for the County and maintaining national public health accreditation status; enforces local health orders, ordinances, and regulations prescribed by the California Department of Public Health, and State statutes relating to public health; assesses the community health status; advises the governing body concerning health issues. This single incumbent position classification reports to the Public Health Director. The position serves as the Health Officer in accordance with California Health and Safety Code, sections 101000-101300. The Health Officer has authority to enforce public health codes and invoke quarantine
