Under the supervision of the Director, Center for Public Health Practice and Professional Development, the Fellowship and Scholarship Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and other administration aspects to support the operationalization of and scholarship opportunities, and other related workforce strengthening efforts for emerging public health professionals. This is a grant funded position and dependent on grant funding. Coordinate fellowship and scholarship recruitment. Coordinate fellowship and scholarship application review process. Schedule interviews for prospective Fellows. Prepare acceptance and rejection letters and other participant communication. Schedule and coordinate meetings or conference calls for Fellows and Scholars. Assist with the development of Fellowship and Scholar activity at the APHA Annual Meeting. Support the Fellowship and Scholarship Manager with maintaining application database. Assist Manager with coordinating professional development opportunities. Provide administrative support to the Fellowship and Scholarship Manager. Maintain relevant webpages. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. At least three years of work experience at the professional or paraprofessional level. Previous experience with providing project support within associations or other similar organization. Experience with a wide range of administrative duties and project coordination. Computer proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Capable of working on a team or independently with minimal supervision on projects. Strong organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication. Creative and innovative. Previous experience coordinating a fellowship or related program. Proficiency in web- based communication technology. Experience in organizing events. Travel to the Annual Meeting is required with other occasional travel possible.
Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations. Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Mon- Fri. (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
