Internal Medicine Residency Training Director
Health Sciences Clinical series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine invites applications for an Internal Medicine (IM) Residency Training Director in the Department of Medicine. The IM Residency Training Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative models of training, curriculum development, and scholarship, including:
Operational oversight on a variety of functions, including clinical rotations, didactics, assessment, advising, research, and scholarship.
Operational oversight for residents' comprehensive clinical educational experience
Create and engage in high-quality educational programs
Strategic planning and development in graduate medical education.
Operational oversight on resident well-being, inclusion, and belonging
Operational oversight on resident recruitment, orientation, training, duty hours, and evaluations
Operational compliance with ACGME standards of curriculum, trainee competency, evaluation and feedback, and policy development and implementation
Serve as a national leader for innovative training models in IM training education
Coordinate with clinical leadership across affiliate training sites to ensure compliance
Provide clinical services and direct supervision of residents in inpatient and/or outpatient settings
Founded in 2013, the School of Medicine at UCR is the sixth University of California Medical School. We serve the rapidly growing Inland Southern California region by training a much-needed physician workforce and catalyzing innovations in research, education, and healthcare delivery. Advancements and promotions at the UCR occur through a series of structured, merit- based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in a Health Sciences Clinical series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The successful candidate must possess an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree, possess Board Certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine, and have five (5) or more years of leadership and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited training program(s). The successful candidate will be expected to show strong communication skills, leadership ability, and a commitment to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Additional qualifications include the demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments for Associate and Full Professor rank or trajectory for Assistant Professor rank, including innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, and research or scholarly work. The incumbent will have a concurrent academic appointment in the Department of Medicine and is expected to participate in teaching, service, and research, or scholarly activities. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/ index.html ) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 for the salary range. The budgetary range for this position is $115,100 - $305,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://somacademicaffairs.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm2346/files/2021-02/2021-02-11HSCP%20Plan.pdf), which may provide eligibility for additional compensation. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate appropriate administrative experience and a proven record of academic and administrative leadership qualities.
