Job Summary
Under the general plans, organizes and develops the Injury Prevention Program at Denver Health in areas such as violence prevention for sexual assault, teen dating violence, recreational injuries, older adult falls, and other primary prevention areas identified by the data. Participates in designing, planning and implementing formal and informal primary prevention programs, activities, events, trainings, and policies based on community and hospital needs and data. Participates in researching and identifying opportunities and initiates contact in the community, among local partners, and with internal stakeholders. Participates in performance improvement activities that benefit primary prevention and the trauma program. Implements and coordinates the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) program.
Essential Functions:
Utilizes key sources of injury prevention and SBIRT data at the national, state, and community level for the use in program planning and development efforts. (20%)
Designs and implements strategies that reflect knowledge, skills, and best practices in all identified trauma topic area(s) (15%)
Implements and coordinates SBIRT program (10%)
Prepares information, documents/education materials to effectively communicate information about the care of the injured patient (10%)
Completes formative, impact, and outcome evaluation measures as established for project/intervention (15%)
Formally shared trauma program and outreach information for community/state audiences. (15%)
Monitors key components of the program budget and effectively proposes cost effective solutions to program spending. (5%)
Contributes to the development of proposals for funding. (10%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Public Health Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years of experience with grant writing Required
1-3 years of experience working with adults, children, and community groups. Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and negotiating skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Able to multitask. high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams in management.
