Assist surgeon with general oral procedures. Inform patients on pre-op and post-op instructions. Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and casts. Monitor patient's vital statistics during surgery. Document treatment by charting in patients' records.
Essential Functions:
Setting up of operating area in accordance with the type of procedure being planned. Pass surgical tools, surgical dressing preparation and remove suture/debris removal. Clean sterile instruments and equipment according to the IFU?s. Attach relevant monitoring equipment in preparation for surgery. (40%)
Prepare patients for procedure. Obtain and record patient vital signs. (5%)
Proper handling of instrumentation and equipment pre/post procedure. (5%)
Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures. (5%)
Ensure the patient does not breathe in fluids during procedure. Protect patient?s lips, cheeks, and tongue from unnecessary injury. (5%)
Continued monitoring of vital signs and instruction on post-operative care. (5%)
Assist surgeon in the recovery of patients from sedation and anesthesia. (5%)
Record treatment charts. (5%)
Provide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and casts. (5%)
Appointment scheduling and confirmation. (10%)
Ordering and managing the storage of dental supplies. (5%)
Practices in alignment with Joint Commission guidelines and protocols (5%)
Education:
No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required
Work Experience:
less than 1 year Oral Surgery experience Required and
1-3 years Dental assistant experience Required and
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to take direction from an oral surgeon, ability to work quickly, be organized and detail oriented.
Good manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods.
Should be reliable and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
Work well in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Epic experience, preferred.
