Job Summary
Denver Health Foundation has been accelerating the work of Denver Health & Hospital Authority for more than 20 years by securing philanthropic support and investments. Given the aspiring agenda of Denver Health, the Foundation is in its most ambitious fundraising campaign in the history of the organization. The philanthropy division (Annual Giving, Individual Giving, Capital Campaigns, Institutional Giving and Gift Planning), led by the Sr. Director of Philanthropy, is essential to the success of this exercise.
The Philanthropy Team plays a vital role in the success of the campaign by helping build and establish key relationships that translates into significant financial commitments to the organization. The Sr. Director reports to the Executive Director and leads all aspects of the philanthropy function for Denver Health Foundation. As a member of the Denver Health Foundation Leadership Team, the Sr. Director of Philanthropy works with the Executive Director of the Foundation to set the vision and direction of the annual giving, individual giving, capital campaigns, institutional giving and gift planning activities. The Sr. Director of Philanthropy manages a team of gift officers in addition to managing their own portfolio of prospects. The primary objective of this division is to invest prospective donors from annual to major giving in the vision of Denver Health and to develop long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of the donors' interests, passions, and values and to secure financial investments as a result of these relationships.
Essential Functions:
Leads philanthropy division (Annual Giving, Individual Giving, Campaigns, Institutional Giving and Gift Planning) and guides the professional development of that team. (25%)
Develops overarching strategies for the cultivation, briefing, solicitation, and stewardship of all philanthropy team portfolios (20%)
Ensures effective communication and reporting across the organization for all internal stakeholders (15%)
Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. (10%)
Ensures accuracy of all information across the donor portfolios within the CRM (10%)
Demonstrates willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions and priorities (10%)
Manages people, process, deadlines and budget. (5%)
Protects the mission, goals and values of the organization. (5%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Master's Degree preferred.
Work Experience:
10+ years of experience in major gift fundraising, campaign management and portfolio management required.
4-6 years in Supervisory or lead role required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven record of successful fundraising.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple time sensitive projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
Ability to work well under pressure
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with database programs.
