Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

Salary: $70,000 annually.

Purpose of Position
Summary:The Manager for Research Oversight & Compliance oversees and administers Research Oversight & Compliance within the Division of Research and Innovation. The Manager is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and assessment of all essential research compliance and integrity activities, as well as management of related issues/concerns within the university that fall under the purview of the Executive Director and the Assistant VP for Research Oversight & Compliance. The Manager will implement the programs necessary to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective integrity and compliance program and assist faculty, staff, and students to understand and comply with federal, state, and university regulations/laws/policies for funded and unfunded research in the areas of human, animal and recombinant DNA research. Areas of oversight and administrative support include [but are not limited to] material and data transfers, export controls, regulatory compliance of research involving vertebrate animals, human subjects, recombinant DNA, conflicts of interest, and research non-compliance. Additionally, the Manager will develop and implement educational and training programs for the responsible conduct of research. The reporting lines to the Manager include the compliance committee administrators (IRB, IACUC and IBC). The Manager will have expansive knowledge of federal [and potentially state] laws governing research integrity and compliance.
In this role, the incumbent is responsible for the administrative management of research compliance of the activities of the IRB, IACUC and IBC. With minimal supervision, provides coordinating services, keeps official records, and executes administrative policies determined by or in conjunction with other officials, within area of assigned responsibility.
Essential Functions
Coordinates office services and related activities, including developing and supervising programs for the maximum utilization of services.
Oversees work schedules to ensure efficient operation of the department.
Directs employee training to improve efficiency and ensure conformance to standard procedures and practices.
Conducts staff meetings of operational personnel or confers with subordinate personnel to discuss operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices.
Analyzes and resolves work problems; implements measures to improve production methods and to motivate workers.
Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow; establishes unform correspondence procedures and style practices; ensures procedure manuals are generated and maintained.
Reviews records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Understands department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.
Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies, to include necessary programmatic changes to achieve national accreditation for the IACUC, IBC, and IACUC areas, as applicable.
Acts as liaison between department and internal/external customers.
Participates in various committees, professional training, industry conferences and conventions.
Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations.
Work closely, cooperatively, and professionally with other staff members, and coordinate efforts with the Division as a whole, including providing coverage as needed.
May represent the business function, division, or department at meetings, conferences, and seminars or committees.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree
and
Experience:
5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Research administrative experience in higher education, industrial research organization and/or federal regulatory agency.
Demonstrated experience with research integrity and compliance programs, including a knowledge of federal regulations.
Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability working with a diverse population within a compliance setting.
