Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the development, execution and management of a comprehensive, multi-channel annual giving program. This position balances high level strategy and organizational leadership with tactical efforts to create, refine and execute fundraising solicitations for VUMC. The Executive Director of Annual Giving supervises the Annual Giving program which is made up of the Digital and Direct Marketing team and a Data Analyst role. This position reports to the Vice President for Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating a comprehensive annual giving program with an emphasis on increasing net revenue and growing the digital program
- Execute a multi-channel annual giving fundraising program using direct mail, email, social media, among other channels
- Coordinate and manage a comprehensive solicitation calendar that interfaces with the broader VUMC Development and Marketing/Communications strategy
- Provide strategic oversight of all supporting vendor relationships
- Collaborate with partners across VUMC to identify and support annual giving opportunities
- Manage the VUMC Annual Giving program and team members, appropriately supporting staff and distributing responsibilities
- Develop and closely monitor a comprehensive set of metrics to achieve annual giving fundraising goals
- Design and execute strategies to maximize donor acquisition, retention, and gradually move annual giving donors into leadership and major gift pipelines
- Responsible for building in-house capacity for digital and direct mail activities currently managed by vendors
- Utilize data analytics and segmentation strategies to optimize fundraising results
- Ensure transactions related to annual giving are accurately tracked and managed in the CRM
- Advise on, and incorporate, best-in-class strategies for annual giving solicitations
- Track progress of appeals to determine effectiveness and ROI
- Partner with the Data Analyst to conduct regular segmentation and data analyses to help inform new strategies for activating donors
- Demonstrate commitment to VUMC's mission and values in all aspects of the job
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree (or equivalent experience) (Required)
- 10 years relevant experience (Required)
- Preferred development and fundraising experience in a non-profit environment, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong strategic thinking skills - ability to envision, plan, and execute solicitation initiatives
- Experience effectively managing a team and achieving team/programmatic goals
- Experience in managing a portfolio and/or demonstrated success in cultivating and stewarding relationships.
- Must be collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, accurate and efficient; excellent project management skills and follow through
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Previous experience with CRMs strongly preferred
