May perform administrative support functions as required.
Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) is recruiting for a full time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department at DHMC is a Level One Academic Medical Center and sees more than 75,000 patients per year, serves as the host for the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, provides medical direction for the Denver Health Paramedic Division and 911 system for the City and County of Denver and is an academic affiliate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The adult ED encompasses 38 dedicated acute treatment spaces and a 23-bed ED observation unit. Staffing is provided by board-certified emergency physicians, advanced care providers, PGY 1- 4 residents, and emergency medicine sub specialty fellows. As Colorado's primary safety net institution DHMC provides over 300 million dollars in uncompensated care every year. One year of experience is preferred but not required. The ideal APP will be someone with previous Emergency Medicine experience, a person with a passion for life-long learning, who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The APPs function as an integral part of the team in the Emergency Department and work closely with residents and attending residents.

Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs administrative procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment. May perform administrative support functions as required.

Essential Functions:
Monitors and evaluates medical condition of patient and under the supervision of a physician and in collaboration with other disciplines and standards of care or applying appropriate protocols, make decisions regarding treatment changes. Refers patient to specialized services as needed. (20%)
Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records. (20%)
Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by the supervising medical staff. (20%)
May be assigned to perform leadwork and/or involvement in clinical coordination, health station management or responsibility for special projects which may encompass protocol development, management planning, scheduling and other administrative tasks as necessary to support practice environment. (20%)
Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings. Utilizes the principles and practices of effective communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies. (20%)
Education:
Master's Degree Required. Completion of NP or PA training program.
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
