About the Opportunity

The Department of Health Sciences, in Bouvé College at Northeastern University, is accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track 52-week appointment, teaching position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The candidate would teach our Health Education and Program Planning courses at the undergraduate and potentially, at the graduate level. These courses also include an evaluation component. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in designing health programs, applying theoretical frameworks, and evaluating program outcomes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and potentially, graduate courses and participating in departmental, college, and university service.  Engagement in scholarship and continuing professional development is required. Teaching Statement:

Please summarize your past instructional, curriculum development, mentorship experiences; current pedagogical philosophy, future plans/goals for teaching in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences (including existing and proposed courses); and strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging Statement:

Please provide a statement of your contributions to diversity that describes your experience, activities, and plans to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging in your teaching, research, and service. Your statement should demonstrate an understanding of the barriers facing marginalized communities in your field and be in alignment with Northeastern’s mission to reflect the diversity of the societies in which it maintains campuses and meet the educational needs and interests of its diverse population. Some faculty candidates may not have substantial past activities. If that is the case, we recommend focusing on plans in your statement. A more developed and substantial plan is expected for senior candidates.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D., DrPH, ScD, EdD, MD or another terminal degree in public health, health education, community health, health equity, or a related field.  At least one year of prior undergraduate teaching experience in one of these areas is required. Additionally, CHES or MCHES certification is required.
