Memorial Healthcare System, one of the largest public healthcare systems in the United States,is seeking a Chief of Advanced Heart Failure to join an established and thriving hospital-based adult heart failure/heart transplant and advanced mechanical support program. Qualified candidates should be Board Certified in cardiovascular disease as well as in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. The Chief will participate in quality and selection committees as well as assume a key role as a member of the multidisciplinary heart failure team wherein he/she will facilitate collaboration with transplant surgeons, physicians, administrators, coordinators and support staff. Primary importance will be given to the development of the outreach programs. All candidates must have a minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in a hospital-based adult heart failure/heart transplant and advanced mechanical support program.
In addition, all candidates should have clinical competency and expertise in caring for patients with mechanical circulatory devices, ECMO and pulmonary hypertension. The successful physician will be actively involved in Graduate Medical Education and should have the desire to teach residents and fellows. The program also participates in numerous national multi-center research trials.
About the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute
In addition to a large general cardiology practice, the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute includes all relevant subspecialties including electrophysiology, preventative and interventional cardiology, vascular, congenital heart disease, imaging and genetics. The cardiothoracic surgical program has also earned and maintained the distinguished three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, a 232-bed freestanding facility and part of the Memorial Healthcare System, has an established and highly recognized pediatric heart transplant program. The MCVI performed the first adult heart transplant in Broward county and has an active VAD and Adult Heart Transplant program since 2014. Memorial has the first accredited adult congenital heart program in the State of Florida and is the only ELSO Gold designated ECMO program in South Florida.
This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
