The VA Long Beach Healthcare System is recruiting for 4 Internal Medicine Primary Care Physicians. This position is an academic position where they will teach and instruct resident physicians, they will service and provide comprehensive primary care for the Veterans, fulfilling all primary care needs to include acute and chronic illness, gender-specific PC and Mental health (screen for conditions such as depression, substance use/abuse, military sexual trauma, and PTSD) also evaluate and treat uncomplicated mental health disorders as well as substance use disorders. Engage in preventative care (age-appropriate cancer screening e.g., colon, breast, and cervical cancer), as well as weight management counseling, smoking cessation and immunizations. Coordinate specialty care when needed and communicate with the specialty provider regarding the evaluation and treatment plan to ensure continuity of care. Responsible for complying with all Medical Staff Bylaws and the operation of quality assurance programs. Act as a surrogate for the patients of other colleagues when unavailable to attend. Collaboration with staff to contribute to the overall accomplishment of the facility strategic goals and performance measures.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-4:30pm (Flexible Agendas)
Practice Environment:Outpatient clinic setting, Panel size 1000-1200 direct reports to section chiefs. 6 Teams, 30 Physicians Total.
Call Coverage:1 time of (2weeks) of the year.
Academic Affiliations:University of California (UCI), Irvine, or Charles Drew University (CDU).
Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completed Internal Medicine Residency Training.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Eligible.
