Sonic Healthcare USA has an immediate opening for a Paralegal in Austin, Texas. (This is not a remote opportunity)
The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and legal support services including document preparation and review; assisting with corporate administrative functions such as corporate minutes, bylaws, and updating required filings; litigation management and support, assisting with managing legal budgets, reviewing legal invoices and managing contract management system and contract repository; general legal research and assisting with contract drafting and execution.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and experience in supporting corporate administration role, including drafting minutes, bylaws, board resolutions, documentation regarding updating officers and directors, and maintaining accurate corporate records for various sizes and types of legal entities.
- Help manage litigation docket and provide support by working with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Drafts documents including contracts, demand letters, policies, and responses to record requests.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves documents and files.
- Develops and maintains company legal records and files.
- Assist with the management of a contract management system and contract repository system.
- Assist with adhering to a legal budget, managing legal invoices pertaining to outside counsel expenditures and managing workers' compensation and auto liability programs
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate required.
Location: Position will be located in Austin, Texas. In-office required with some flexibility for remote work.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of prior paralegal experience required.
- Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, management of contracts and contract management systems and repositories.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of corporate administrative function and requirements for maintaining proper corporate records.
- Experience or familiarity with healthcare rules, regulations and laws a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Collaborative, resourceful and team player.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the SHUSA Chief General Counsel
This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.
