The role you’ll contribute:
Under the general supervision of Laboratory leadership the Laboratory Quality Manager is responsible for maintaining all regulatory and accreditation standards related to laboratory quality management. May have primary responsibility for, but not limited to, quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, employee training and competency, process improvement through corrective and preventive action, deviation/nonconformances, risk/adverse events, internal/external assessments, safety and the physical environment, and patient safety and high reliability.

- Oversees quality management programs, which may include but not limited to test utilization reviews; clinical intervention documentation audits; and clinical outcome assessments, to maintain optimal clinical laboratory services and identify opportunities for growth.
- Proactively uses data analysis techniques to track, monitor, and communicate the operational, clinical quality, safety and financial outcomes of assigned areas and to benchmark performance against internal targets and against local and national best practices.
- Leads and champions process-improvement initiatives and evaluate risks related to initiatives
- Develops and deploys action plans to ensure process-improvement project sustainability and/or continued progress towards goals. Follows up with the process improvement team to maintain sustainability.
- Facilitates compliance of laboratory department with all healthcare regulatory requirements and applicable state and federal laws. Coordinate departmental preparedness activities and response to regulatory surveys/audits
- Develop and deploy the Laboratory Quality Management Plan and ensure that it is documented and accessible throughout the Laboratory.
- Creates, updates, maintains and is responsible policies and procedures related to Laboratory Quality Management.
- Actively participates in the strategic planning for the department, including prioritization of initiatives, long-term practice model developments, and internal organizational and communication models.
- Maintains productive, collaborative relationships with medical staff members, other hospital departments and strategic business unit leaders to promote cooperation and efficiency in providing patient's laboratory care needs.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Two years’ experience in a leadership role in a clinical laboratory
- Five years’ laboratory experience
- Experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations
- Nationally certified as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist, or equivalent term.
Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification or Registration
- Master’s Degree in area of specialty or Clinical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Hospital Administration, Health Services, or Business Administration.
- Five years’ experience in a leadership role in a clinical laboratory
- Lean six sigma green belt certification or higher
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), (QI) accredidation, Certification by American Society for Quality (ASQ), or other equivalent certifications
