ECU Health, in partnership with M3 Executive Search, is conducting a national search for a highly collaborative physician leader to serve as Chief of Cardiology.  Candidates with a track record of academic scholarly work in cardiology at the level of Associate Professor or Professor are encouraged to apply.

The division is home to thirteen faculty who are supported by a talented and dedicated team of advanced practitioners, nurses, administrators, and staff.  The faculty comprises a substantial part of the ECU Heart Institute, which fosters cardiovascular science an innovation across ECU Health.  Cardiology faculty take a fully integrated approach to cardiovascular care and disease prevention and provide provides a full range of services including cardiac imaging, clinical cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, interventional cardiology, and structural heart disease.  Basic responsibilities will include maintaining a clinical practice in cardiology, supporting education of fellows and medical students, and providing mentorship to faculty.  Additional responsibilities will include:

• Shape the future of the division by working with faculty and staff to develop and articulate divisional vision and goals
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality training and support faculty teaching enhancement
• Maintain a high-quality academic environment and provide support for faculty research
• Maintain a divisional climate that is hospitable and encourages faculty and staff engagement, participating, collegiality and innovation
• Explore the further growth and development of academic/community partnerships in Eastern North Carolina.

The Chief of Cardiology will join and lead a division of fellowship trained cardiologists who are supported by dedicated advanced practitioners and nursing staff.  The Chief will have an outstanding clinical reputation and a distinguished academic career including a leadership role within a multifaceted academic cardiology division.  A successful candidate should possess the following:

• MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree; he/she will be expected to qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at Brody School of Medicine.
• Exceptional leadership record at a top-ranked medical school, academic health center (preferred) or health system, and, ideally, experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion by modeling and fostering diversity and cultural proficiency.
• An entrepreneurial, collaborative, creative and driven spirit.
• A distinguished academic and professional career, including teaching, research, and clinical experience.  
• Superior track record in building and/or contributing to collaborative team cultures.
