The Human Resources Representative, under limited direction of the Human Resource Business Consultant (HRBC) and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), will provide human resource services to employees of DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. While this is a contingent position, there are many opportunities to work up to 40 hours/week through the summer months. This is a perfect role for students of HR looking to gain real world experience between school semesters.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Interpret DMC policies, procedures, standards, ethics, government regulations and laws. Assist in the communication, and implementation of HR practices and procedures.
Assist in planning, communicating and administering special HR programs such as employee referral program, Employee Activities Committee, service awards, employee suggestion programs, blood drives, and DMC Way employee recognition programs.
Support HRBC and CHRO in interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements for multiple union bargaining units within the hospital.
Support centralized employment in recruitment activities. Assist employees and management regarding the process needed to interact with employment services. Analyze turnover data and recommend plan of action. Conduct exit interviews and compile trend reports.
Provide basic employee relations support with issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, civil rights complaints, etc.
Perform general Human Resource duties as needed to facilitate HR process improvement.
In conjunction with the training and development of staff facilitate and/or provide training and development opportunities including new hire orientation. Facilitate distribution of policies and other employee communications.
Bachelorâ��s degree in a Human Resources related field or equivalent experience. 2.
Four to six months of Human Resources experience preferred.
Good interpersonal, listening, interview and negotiation skills to communicate with all levels of internal and external professionals.
Analytical skills to research and interpret HR data, adverse impact analysis and compensation and labor relations information, understand and analyze business needs, access appropriate information, and recommend solutions within strategic goals established for HR.
Ability to recommend effective solutions to problems or issues, using good business judgment as well as supported by consistent practice, standard, policy, regulation or law.
Effective writing skills to communicate and summarize complicated situations.
Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
