Job Description:
Directs the design, development, establishment and communication of DMC community relations projects that promote wellness and enhance the health of the communities we serve.
� Recommends appropriate delivery and coordination of community relations programs, community and vendor programs and monitors effectiveness of the programs.
� Determines the measurement tools, including participant tracking systems, to evaluate the effectiveness of the community-based programs.
� Establishes the framework for successful civic projects that promote the DMC and the DMC Friends and Family program throughout the community.
� Designs, develops, coordinates and evaluates outreach programs with block clubs, neighborhood associations, civic organizations, fraternal, and faith-based groups.
� Prepares community relations semi-annual and annual reports; and coordinates external correspondence and publications.
� Assists DMC leadership with special projects/initiatives as needed. Identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher level management input, goals and objectives.
� Oversees or directs the development and/or revision of procedures/protocols.
� Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate.
� Develops, monitors and revises functional processes.
� Develops current to intermediate goals and measures for area(s) of responsibility.
� Measures and assesses performance.
� As requested, assists in long range goal development.
� Assists in development of and monitors budget.
� Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies.
� As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.
� Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:1. Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Health Education, Health Promotion or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree preferred.
2. Five years of progressively more responsible experience directing projects related to community relations/public affairs/community health activities.
3. Community group memberships and civic board appointments or memberships highly desirable.
