Overview
Atlantic Health System is seeking a Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at Morristown, NJ. The Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer is an astute and savvy leader with a proven track record of making a significant mark within the healthcare system characterized by high quality, an aspirational mission and a high level of employee engagement and pride. The CFO is responsible for effective participation and oversight in the integrated strategic and financial planning and overall leadership and direction for the financial strategy and financial operations of Atlantic Health System. Establishes financial policies and guidelines relating to accounting, budgeting, accounts receivables, and patient billing. Directs and coordinates capital formation, investments and other business activities.
Reports to Executive Vice President & Chief Business and Strategy Officer. Direct reporting relationships to the CFO are:
- VP, Finance
- VP, Revenue Cycle
- Director, Treasury & Investments
- Director, Strategic Sourcing
Responsibilities
- Serves as the chief financial advisor to the Atlantic Health System senior executive team. Shares all pertinent information with the EVP, Chief Business and Strategy Officer about conditions under his/her direction.
- Serves as a key strategic member of senior leadership team, providing consultation and guidance to peers and acting as the system CFO as required for Atlantic Health System related functions.
- Leads financial planning and forecasting strategies that enable decision making.
- Leads and establishes an integrated strategic and financial planning process compatible with the healthcare organization's objectives.
- Partners with the executive team and colleagues on mergers and acquisitions and expansions into new and different lines of business.
- Promotes high quality, innovation and process improvement within his/her areas of responsibility. Seeking opportunities to incorporate more automation and standardization into work processes.
- Prepares annual operating and capital budget for Board approval. Prepares monthly reports to management and the Board that summarizes major variances from budget.
- Participates in strategic operational planning in concert with the organization's goals that contribute
toward clinical effectiveness, new business development, workforce matters, revenue management, cost containment and maximizing productivity. - Provides senior executive oversight for general accounting, accounts payable, payroll,
patient access and patient accounting departments. - Promotes and organization that is more technology-driven.
- Assures the Board and CEO of the adequate internal controls and provides testing of such controls with
disclosure to the CEO and the Board. Coordinates Internal Audits through the Atlantic Health System Corporate Internal Audit Department. - Reviews, interprets, analyzes, and communicates financial reports and data to leadership, and the Board of Directors, with the use of financial ratio analysis, critically measures the organization's financial position. Serves as staff to Board Finance Committee.
- Keeps abreast and ensures that the team is aware of Center for Medical and Medicaid (CMS) regulations, Federal congressional actions and deliberations, and NJ Hospital Association decisions influencing fiscal management of the healthcare organization. Also ensures compliance with orders or directives issued by duly constituted governmental/regulatory agencies or third-party payers. This covers such areas as financial/billing reporting procedures, medical record recording requirements, and coordination to develop data to meet any proposed reporting requirements of third parties.
- Plans for adequate cash liquidity and forecasting to meet operating and capital expenditures.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining all banking relationships.
- Reviews and provides oversight of Atlantic Health System's insurance coverage policies.
- Provides investment management oversight for the 403b Plan, Board Designated and Foundation investment portfolios.
- Serves on the Allspire best in class contracting strategies and expertise that result in supply chain cost reductions. You will accomplish this by contributing in all aspects of supply chain strategic sourcing processes including opportunity identification, strategy building, contract development, negotiations, documentation, and implementation. Provides executive oversight for Atlantic Visiting Nurse (home care & hospice services) and Atlantic Investment Corporation.
- Provides oversight and responsibility for Patient Access through hospital registration and outpatient scheduling.
- Recruits new team members for key positions and evaluates those under own direction.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- A collaborator with a track record of building, maintaining positive working relationships and the ability to network with team members, managers, executives, physicians, board members and other stakeholders and constituents
- Utilizes analytics, artificial intelligence, automation and/or other tools that bring greater efficiency to the revenue cycle and other functions. Has the ability to apply such tools to drive down costs and improve operational efficiencies
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business preferred
Education:
- Master's degree in Healthcare Financial Management or Master in Business Administration with a focus on healthcare is highly preferred
Relevant Experience:
- 10+ years of proven of accounting and finance experience in supervisory/leadership position
- 3+ years of experience should be directly in the healthcare field or in the public accounting field performing audits for a healthcare organization or intermediary
