Senior Accountant, Health Plan (Hybrid based schedule in Phoenix, AZ)

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the following:
Close the monthly GAAP books for each assigned health plan, segment and/or IPA, to include preparation and uploading of journal entries
Perform bank-related updating and monitoring to include - upload positive pay files, research and clear daily exceptions, place stop payments on requested checks, download bank activity and monthly statements, research outstanding checks when necessary
Working with related company to obtain, review, monitor and reconcile financial information
Balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned cash and balance sheet accounts
Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including full footnote disclosure, to the state regulator
Prepare schedules and perform analysis to assist in the preparation of the annual CPA audit and biennial regulatory audit
Accounts payable reconciliation and serve as backup for data input; and
Ad hoc projects as assigned
3-5 years relevant experience
Health plan experience desirable
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
Working knowledge (at least intermediate level) of Microsoft Office
Excellent written and oral communication skills
