JOB SUMMARY The Clinical Trials Associate will be an integral member of our research team. Our research group seeks to improve outcomes using consumer technology, particularly patient portals, to engage patients and enhance their ability to self-manage chronic medical conditions like diabetes. Our clinical research focuses on designing and testing innovative applications embedded within patient portals. We are committed improving the care of diverse patients including Spanish-speaking patients. Clinical Trials Associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Dr. William Martinez, and other study staff with the conduct of NIH funded projects involving the development of a patient portal intervention for patients with diabetes (My Diabetes Care). The projects will include Spanish-speaking study participants. With guidance and training, Clinical Trials Associate will assist with implementing recruitment procedures, informed consent, enrollment, communicating with and interviewing study participants. The Clinical Trials Associate will help maintain accurate and timely documentation and communication with investigators, participants, IRB, sponsors and other research related entities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in recruiting participants and assessing patient eligibility for the approved study.
Answers queries from study participants in English and Spanish.
Conducts interviews with study participants in English and Spanish.
Gathers medical history of patient.
Obtains informed consent of participants and ensures patient consent forms are completed.
Abstracts and accurately records all patient data essential to the study and creates summary reports
Assists principal investigator with monitoring compliance with protocol and regulations.
Prepares, mails, and tracks home A1C testing kits study participants.
Calls or sends questionnaires to participants to check outcomes.
Examine data and records to ensure compliance with protocol.
Assist in the preparation of material for publication.
Assist with scheduling and organizing research related activities.
Collects and monitors all study patient records to document outcomes as required by the protocol.
Institutes process improvement measures for efficiency and productivity within the research group
Pursues professional development to gain additional skills pertinent to research group.
Assist PI in providing annual reporting to IRB and prepare annual summaries.
Coordinates preparation of IRB and regulatory documents; under direction of PI, and may draft various communications
Report all adverse reactions according to VU and protocol guidelines.
Sets up timeline for data collection and required procedures based on study protocols.
