This physician will build on the existing strengths and commitment to service excellence, high quality Veteran care, education, and scholarly endeavors in an environment that underscores a respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Responsibilities will include all aspects of an academic cardiac electrophysiology career. The physician will promote and conduct high-quality patient-centric clinical care including lab-based and inpatient and outpatient consultation, mentor trainees, mid-level providers, and other faculty, develop an outstanding educational experience for learners of all levels, and conduct scholarly research and quality improvement. A newly renovated Electrophysiology procedural laboratory has been completed. A robust ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Medicine provides ample teaching opportunities. The RHJ VAMC has strong funded programs in health services research, health care disparities, clinical trials, and basic science. Collaboration with Cardiac Electrophysiology faculty or other investigators at the RHJ VAMC or MUSC is available. Protected time for clinical or basic research can be supported based on interest, previous work, and funding. The Physician will report under the Medicine Service at the VAMC and will have an academic appointment at MUSC, which may include additional clinical, teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities. The division of time between the two medical centers is negotiable. Applicants must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be ABIM Board eligible / certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiology. Previous VA experience is a strong plus. The appropriate candidate will have experience and training supporting requirements for an academic appointment at an early-career or higher level. Work Schedule: Part Time, 70 hours per pay period, 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
