UMass Memorial Health is the health and wellness partner of the people of Central Massachusetts, the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts, and the clinical partner of UMass Chan Medical School. The Division of Palliative Care is a well-established interdisciplinary team of four faculty and four advance practice providers providing inpatient and outpatient consultation services for a diverse patient population in a dynamic teaching environment. UMass Memorial Health’s plan to become a fully integrated health system encompassing academic tertiary care and population health will create significant opportunity for future palliative care program growth in the community.

Our Division collaborates closely with hospital medicine, oncology, critical care, primary care and other disciplines in generalist palliative care education and quality improvement projects.
We offer multiple opportunities to train medical students, residents and other subspecialty fellows, in addition to collaborative clinical and medical education research with several academic departments and divisions.
Our Palliative Medicine fellowship was established in 2021 with it’s first full-time fellow.
Academic appointment commensurate with experience.
We are partnered with the Schwartz Center for Compassion in Healthcare and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to promote humanism and resiliency in medicine.
The Division works closely with the medical center and ACO in building inpatient and community-based palliative care.
BE/BC Palliative Medicine required; the ideal candidate for Program Director will qualify for Associate Professor rank or greater, ?but will consider Assistant Professor candidates with outstanding experience and leadership potential.
Training in Vital Talk and/or Serious Illness Care Program attractive but not required.
