The Healthcare Liability Insurance Underwriter will be a key professional for the evaluation and analysis of healthcare risks involved in insuring people and assets, new business lines and new services of the organization. This position is a detail-oriented, problem-solving role, requiring excellent communication and collaboration with key operations business partners, both internal and external, who excels and enjoys mathematics and statistics. Will often perform professional liability review of providers in addition to the review and renewal of coverage applications at the direction and timeline of department management.

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or other relevant programs; Degree with experience in underwriting strongly encouraged. Strong working knowledge of healthcare operations, Risk Financing and Risk Transfer as it pertains to a healthcare operations’ unique risks and exposures. Working knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements of healthcare operations desired. Required.
Experience: 3 years of Hospital and/or Professional liability insurance underwriting or administration at an analyst III level or above. Knowledge of captive insurance regulations helpful. Required.
Licensure/Certification: CPCU, CRM, ARM, CPHRM, or CIC Preferred.
Additional skills required:
Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced).
Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed.
Experience with managing a book of new and renewal business, ability to gather and analyze information to determine risk acceptability.
Ability to demonstrate sound decision making in an effective, efficient and expedient manner.
Requires solid interpersonal and platform skills.
Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred): Financial management, statistical methods and analysis strongly preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with team members and external contacts. Ability to effectively manage deadlines, workloads and high stress situations.
