Board-certified nephrologist to serve as a clinical provider and educator in the Nephrology Section/Medicine Service. The selectee must be committed to quality care and teaching and demonstrate proficiency in the 6 ACGME competencies; they must be eligible to serve as program director for an ACGME accredited nephrology fellowship. An interest in research is encouraged. Major duties/responsibilities: Function as the expert for patient care related to acute, chronic, and end-stage kidney disease, fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disorders. Round on hospitalized patients and generate appropriated consultation and follow-up note documentation and orders, including dialysis orders when needed. Attend in clinic, generate appropriate consultation and follow-up note documentation, order prescription medications, provide diet recommendation and instruction, and other physician-driven decisions. Participate as attending physician in out-patient dialysis rounds. Provide call coverage in rotation during times when the provider is not on campus to include holidays, nights, and weekends.
