The Research Scientist Sports Concussion develops and works collaboratively on research projects to complement the goals of the BSW Sports Therapy and Research Program and Research Institute. The Research Scientist Sports Concussion is expected to apply for external grants and contribute significantly to other Investigator’s grant proposals. This candidate will work under the mentorship and guidance of the BSW Center Research Director and BSW Sports Concussion Program Director. The ideal candidate has experience with sports-related concussion and/or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in youth populations, a history of peer-reviewed publications and dissemination, and a history of successful grant writing at the private or federal level.
Actively engages in manuscript development with the expectation to submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals each year.
Assists with the analysis of existing retrospective and longitudinal data.
Designs and implements new research studies related to sports concussion.
Oversees database management of existing studies using REDCap or other similar data management systems.
Participates in the identification of grant opportunities to further the research efforts and engages independently in grant application and submission activities.
Disseminates and presents research at local and national conferences.
Contributes to other related areas of research with the research team, including but not limited to human performance, sports therapy, exercise physiology, and lifestyle modification (e.g., physical activity, nutrition) for people with mobility impairment and brain injury.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD (completed by start of employment) preferably in rehabilitation science, kinesiology, athletic training, or sports psychology, with an emphasis on sports-related concussion. Other relevant scientific disciplines will be considered.
Outstanding writing skills.
Strong presentation/public speaking skills.
Experience in quantitative and qualitative research designs and relevant statistical analysis.
