The Inpatient Coder reviews the entire medical record for the assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes using the ICD-10 and/or CPT4 coding systems. The Inpatient Coder abstracts specified data from the medical record.
Required: High School graduate or equivalent. Preferred: Associate degree in Health Information Management.
Previous ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 and CPT coding experience required.
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Familiar with regulations regarding coding, compliance, and DRG/APC assignment. Computer applications, federal and
state laws regarding patient confidentiality, and terminal digit numbering
