The Surveillance, Investigations, and Research Team Lead serves as a national expert in oral health science and leads others responsible for conducting national surveillance and other studies related to oral diseases, conditions, and behaviors. The Team Lead provides specialized expertise to analyze epidemiologic studies and other data and applies this knowledge to complex and critical problems in surveillance, program evaluation, and community-based research. The Team Lead provides oversight of the Division’s activities supporting dental infection prevention and control and the Dental Public Health Residency program.
A qualified applicant would possess:
Current knowledge about principles, concepts, methods, and techniques used in oral health research, surveillance, dentistry and dental care services, epidemiology, and biostatistics;
The ability to provide expert scientific advice and consultation on creative solutions to critical problems by generating new hypotheses, approaches, and standards;
The ability to communicate research findings to decision makers, oral health stakeholders, and the national public health community; and
The ability to lead a team who provides expert scientific advice and collaborates in conducting epidemiologic and other studies that assess oral disease burden and public health impact of interventions designed to improve the nation’s oral health status.

To meet the basic position requirements you must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association or the Commission on Dental Accreditation, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the US.

Additional Salary Information: Salary range: $93,907 - $122,077. In addition to the normal salary range, when applicable requirements are met, this position may provide additional compensation through the Physicians and Dentist Pay under Title 38 (PDP).
