Summary:
Ensures accurate record compilation and completion, data transmission, indexing, abstracting, coding, filing, storage, retrieval, and maintenance of the patient record are performed in a timely and proper fashion. Assists in the coordination and utilization of medical records services in applications such as research, utilization review, medical audits, quality assurance studies, disability evaluations, and other hospital operational needs such as compliance and regulatory requirements. Education:
  • Associates degree in Health Information Technology and satisfactory completion of a coding course
Licenses/Certification:
  • Certification as a RHIT preferred
Experience:
  • 1 year related job experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize and management medical records department.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding, abstracting, JCAHO and federal regulations.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding patient confidentiality and release of information.
