The Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a full-time staff physician to be a hematology/medical oncology specialist on Medical Service. The Oklahoma City VAMC is a tertiary care facility serving Oklahoma and part of northern Texas and an integral part of the educational and research mission of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The hematology and medical oncology physician will participate in providing inpatient and outpatient care of the highest quality to patients with hematologic/oncologic diseases, teaching, and research in the field of hematology/oncology. The applicant will apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance and management of hematologic/oncologic diseases. S/he must be proficient in bone marrow biopsy and aspiration. S/he will participate in the education and supervision of trainees. Experience in basic science research is required, and evidence of plans to establish an independent research program is also required.
