Banner Home Health is a four-star home care agency and the largest in Phoenix. Banner Home Health-Phoenix has an average daily census of 1500 across the Maricopa and (parts of) Pinal Counties).
As a Home Care Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for auditing all billing related and chart related documents and activities to ensure compliance and completeness of the medical record and preparing pre-billing audits. You will audit and review supporting documents required by government agencies and other insurance companies for appropriate reimbursement of all home health product lines. Qualified candidates must have previous home health billing experience and/or industry experience that highlights their attention to detail, understanding of billing regulations, and knowledge of home care process and procedure.

POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for reviewing, auditing, and ensuring completion and accuracy of all supporting documents required by government agencies and other insurance companies for appropriate reimbursement of home care product lines. Works closely with the patient financial services team to ensure that claims are generated accurately for billing, and completed month end technical audits, filing, and other functions necessary to ensure compliant billing is complete. Responsible for assisting the organization with timely billing.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Complete billing audit for all patients by accurately verifying visit activity, orders, and plan of care in the system for compliance to regulations and guidelines. Completes full reconciliation of the patient chart prior to billing.
2. Verifies the accuracy of required documentation. Examines and tracks all orders to ensure compliant billing.
3. Researches billing activity errors to work with other departments to resolve potential billing issues and make adjustments which ensure an accurate billing audit has been completed. Works with the billing department to ensure timely billing is complete.
4. Acts as a resource for qualifying criteria, payment limitations and required documentation. Provides assistance to financial services regarding accurate patient account charts.
5. Reviews physician orders and other supporting documents to ensure reimbursement from government agencies and insurance companies.
6. Coordinates and oversees receipt of documents, orders, and/or various metrics as required for compliance to regulations in each patient chart.
7. Oversees prioritization of medical records functions at the local level as required for the preparation of any patient medical records or internal audits to maximize billing speed.
8. This position is responsible for CMNs, physician orders and documentation for all home care product lines including medical equipment and infusion medications. The incumbent makes final independent decisions on the accuracy of the documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Skills and abilities normally gained with three to five years of experience in home health, similar home care services, insurance, or authorization. This position requires a thorough understanding of regulatory and accreditation requirements of home care and related billing for government and third-party agencies to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
