The Orlando VA Medical Center is a new Level 1A facility affiliated with the University of Central Florida School of Medicine. The Neurology Section at Orlando VA Medical Center provides a full range of patient care services including a Multiple Sclerosis and Headache centers for excellence. The Orlando VA Medical Center is actively involved in the instruction of medical students and residents. Orlando VA Medical Center is looking for a full-time Section Chief of Neurology Services. They must have expertise in evaluating and managing patients with broad spectrum of neurological diseases. The Orlando VA Medical Center is actively involved in the instruction of medical student and residents and the Section Chief of Neurology will be part of supervision over the residents, teaching, and curriculum development as well demonstrate excellence in clinical care and Administration. Duties of the Section Chief of Neurology include but not limited to: Building new programs and affiliations. Expanding Neurology Service for the new facility and patient care. Supervising students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals. Working with inpatient neurology as well as ambulatory neurology, including general neurology and the sub-specialties of neurology. Effectiveness in leadership and professionalism. Coordinate the clinical rotations and oversee the education and training of rotating medical students, neurology, residents, and fellows. Ensure that rotating residents receive strong clinical training in all aspects of neurology. Reports to the Chief of Medicine. Oversee the Neurology Service quality improvement program. Review clinical privileges for neurology staff and pay for performance assessment. Responsibility for recommending actions necessary to ensure staff compliance with Medical Staff By-Laws, and relevant facility policies and regulations. Participate in budgetary planning for Neurology Services. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with rotating tours of duty as needed.
