The Salisbury VAMC is actively seeking a well-qualified Cardiologist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to serve as a Staff Cardiologist at the Kernersville Clinic in Kernersville, NC. There are no recruitment incentives associated with this position. Assigned duties include, but not limited to: Provide quality patient-centered patient care to both inpatient and outpatients for adults age 18-65 and older adults age 65+ as assigned by Chief, Medicine Service. Demonstrate sound decision making skills, both clinical and administrative, which bring credit to the profession and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of physicians. Maintain clinical privileges in the areas of his/her expertise and in all areas required to carry out the duties of his/her assignment/responsibilities within the Medicine Services. Exhibit leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and finding from research and studies. Keeps informed of developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education, both formal and informal. Facilitate the delivery of appropriated patient care in collaboration with other health professionals, medical center staff, and management. Serve as staff attending for sup-specialty consult service as assigned. Successfully integrates patient care activities on Medicine Services and other patient care programs at the medical center and in the community such as Social Work, Prosthetics, Home Based Health Care (HBHC), and private nursing homes. Utilizes problem solving methodologies to resolve problems that impact on patient care or staff performance. Develops the initial plan of care and updates the plan, serving as a resource person to less experienced staff, and acts as a leader in developing standards of care. Participates in the formal education of the residents, fellows and medical students by presenting teaching rounds, lectures, conferences, etc. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
