About Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including Stem Cell Transplantation and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 50 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care. POSITION SUMMARY This position serves a critical need and role in integrating and leading the Cancer Research Network administrative and clinical operations. Directly reporting to the Division Chief of BMDACC Research and indirectly to the Senior Administrative Director of Banner Research, this leader serves as primary advisor to the organization's senior management on matters related to research administrative tasks in oncology. This role also provides operational leadership and representation in a highly complex system that includes Banner MD Anderson main site, Banner MD Anderson affiliate sites in AZ and CO, MD Anderson Research Network (national) and Banner Research. This role includes facilitation and leads implementation of efficient strategies, compliance with quality standards and patient satisfaction, financial planning and execution, recruitment, performance evaluation and staff training, oncology research marketing, outreach, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and physician investigators. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Manages managers, supervisors and/or professional staff. Hires, develops and motivates employees to achieve objectives. 2. Achieves operational, financial or service objectives using breadth of knowledge of healthcare operations and management expertise. May manage budget for large and/or complex projects or programs. Participates and may lead task forces to plan, implement, and coordinate facility activities to maximize service quality, effectiveness and efficiency. 3. Accountable for the performance and results of a function or facility or process. Develops departmental plans and policies to achieve organizational priorities; 6 to 18 months future outlook. Makes decisions guided by functional business plans that impact the support and funding of services, processes, technologies, etc. 4. Conducts in-depth analysis and/or evaluation of information to determine the cause and appropriate solution. Foresees and resolves complex customer issues or problems. Manages resources to resolve conflicting objectives and priorities within own area and to ensure financial, service and operational commitments are met. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Nursing, Business or related field. Clinical research and/or health care managerial experience; experience with in operational leadership oncology clinical research is highly desirable. Expert level knowledge in clinical research processes, awareness of institutional expertise, business aspects of oncology clinical research in which the knowledge, skills and abilities are directly transferrable. Proven track record of driving successful performance outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals. Must demonstrate skills and business acumen through direct leadership experiences such as anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers; managing budgets and financial plan; building partnerships with management, staff, and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and objectives, managing problems and uncertain situations; persuading others to adopt a particular stance on an issue; developing and evaluating best practices and emerging trends for organizational applicability and appropriateness; constructing new and innovative solutions for complex and varying problems and situations while considering the larger perspective or context; mentoring and coaching staff by providing open and honest feedback to enhance performance; developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives that support organizational success; demonstrating excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills; demonstrating passion about continuously improving and continuously improving and providing high quality care and service excellence to customers, patients, families, employees and health care providers.
