Cardiologist (Electrophysiology) - Opportunity in Beautiful Washington D.C.
The Washington D.C. VA Medical Center
Cardiologist (Electrophysiology) - Opportunity in Beautiful Washington D.C. The Washington D.C. VA Medical Center is seeking 1 Cardiologist (EP) to join our Cardiology Team. We have an increased need for physicians in cardiology due to increase in COVID-19 cases. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care. The D.C. VAMC is a tertiary cardiac receiving center for VISN 5 and directly serves about 80,000 veterans in the DMV area. DC has two dedicated cath labs, one for coronary interventions and one for electrophysiology. We have an Electrophysiology Fellow on service all year from GWU and General Cardiology Fellows from Washington Hospital Center, across the street from the VA. The EP Service also supports the VA’s National Cardiac Device Surveillance Center. The EP Service performs ablations and CIED implants. In general, we staff our labs with three EP attendings and three Interventional attendings. There is associated general and Interventional Call. There are many opportunities for teaching, given that four medical schools participate here. The clinical material is outstanding and veterans travel here from DEL, WV and PA as well as our own catchment area. There are many opportunities for research including participation in VA Cooperative Studies. It is a busy inner-city teaching hospital with all services, except no transplant or VAD. Transplant referrals generally go to Richmond VAMC 90 miles away. Faculty appointment in Cardiology at either GWU or the Uniformed Services University is available for qualified applicants, whom we seek.
