Your Role:
Deliver direct clinical services to faculty and staff for Work/Life Connections-EAP. The Clinical Counselor is responsible for making independent decisions regarding clinical assessment, treatment planning, and management of caseload and recommendations for employee return to work within the Program guidelines. Provides services under the clinical supervision of the EAP Clinical Manager. As part of the SHARE Program, this position supports individuals and Vanderbilt University Medical Center on matters of sexual harassment through direct clinical services, consultation, and training.
Unit Summary :
Welcome to Work/Life Connections-EAP, the internal employee assistance program of Vanderbilt within Health and Wellness for Faculty and Staff. Our offices are located in the basement floor of the Medical Arts Building at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We provide assessment, brief solutions focused counseling, performance coaching, consultation services for managers, critical incident stress management, referral, case management, recovery support and monitoring, and skill building workshops for the Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center faculty and staff. Our experienced service-oriented clinical care is delivered by the collaborative, team-focused efforts of an multi-disciplinary EAP team including Clinical Licensed Clinical Social Workers, a Master Nurse Clinician, Licensed Professional Counselors, Clinical Psychologist, and Consulting Psychiatrists. Our Leadership Team is comprised of our Health and Wellness Executive Director, Medical Director, Manager, Assistant Manager, and Lead Administrative Assistant. We are dedicated, customer-oriented Team with the mission of elevating the psychological resilience of the faculty and staff at Vanderbilt.
SHARE Program Overview: The SHARE (Sexual Harassment Awareness, Response, & Education) Program is a place where employees and others working within the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) community can share concerns about sexual harassment incidents or behavior when they may not be ready to share details or move forward on an investigation. The SHARE program is a resource for anyone who, in connection with VUMC activities and programs, experiences sexual harassment that interferes with or limits the ability of a member of the community to participate in or to receive benefits, services, or opportunities from the VUMC activities or programs. Organizationally, the program is under the umbrella of Health and Wellness and within the same division as Work/Life Connections - EAP (WLC-EAP) but distinct in name/office/function/person from that program. However, SHARE staff will work closely with WLC-EAP to transition to the appropriate clinical care (e.g. counseling) when desired. Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Education/Experience: Minimum of a master's degree in social work, psychology or related clinical human services discipline. Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience - EAP experience preferred. Clinical experience ideally includes significant assessment, brief counseling, crisis intervention, CISM, and substance abuse work. Work with diverse populations and issues of sexual harassment is desired. Licensure/Certification: Licensed in counseling field required; CEAP preferred. Job-related Skills: Position requires an advanced level of clinical experience; familiarity with and expertise in responding to complex and sensitive workplace issues; demonstrated ability in both written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of human resource functions, clinical supervision skills, organizational consultation skills. Also, position requires knowledge of and ability to work with the diverse workforce of a hospital and university; including multi-cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, educational, and age specific populations; knowledge of Vanderbilt policy and procedures, federal, state and local laws and regulation regarding alcohol and other drugs, employee relations-labor relations, disability, mental health and worker's compensation; a working knowledge of and the ability to intervene in a broad range of clinical problems such as behavioral, family, interpersonal, parent-child, substance abuse and suicidal/homicide risk.
