Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time/ Days

What You Are Responsible For:
  • Analyzes and reports infection outcome and process data to the Infection Control Committee, Performance Improvement/ Patient Safety Committee and Environment of Care Committee.
  • In collaboration with the Infection Control Medical Director and the Infection Control Practitioner, develops agenda and conducts Infection Control committee meetings.
  • Performs annual infection control risk assessment, updates the Infection Control Plan, and conducts an evaluation of the prior yearâ™s activities.
  • Responsible for researching and developing infection prevention and control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, nationally-recognized infection prevention guidelines, and recognized best practices.
  • Responsible for identifying healthcare-associated infection risks to patients and personnel through surveillance, observation and assessment.
  • Gathers and analyzes epidemiologic data, develop reports to communicate findings and manage performance improvement activities to reduce infection.
  • Coordinates reportable disease activities related of infectious conditions.
  • Identifies educational opportunities and develops programs for patients, staff, medical staff, and the community and develops systems or opportunities for educational needs to be met.
  • In conjunction with Occupational Medicine, develops and implements plans for annual vaccination and fit-testing of employees and medical staff.
  • Monitors transmission based precautions and other infection prevention standards and intervenes as required to assure established standards are met.
  • Performs individual case review and assists with root cause analysis in conjunction with clinicians as requested.
  • Uses available resources to provide guidance in Infection Prevention and Control to Medical Staff, Nursing, Ancillary Departments and/or Administration.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management; recognizes potential code 15 and/or Sentinel Event cases and reports them to the Risk Manager or designee within 48 hours of discovery.
  • Analyzes, collects and submits required infection control data into the NHSN data site without error and within established timeframes.
  • Pursues educational opportunities for Professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • 3 years Clinical Experience, RN
  • Computer literate â“ database management
  • Excellent Communication/Motivational skills
  • Experience in leading/facilitating Performance Improvement Teams and Lean Six Sigma principles (Preferred)
  • Experience in Statistical Data Analysis (Preferred)
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (Preferred)
  • Experience with the CDCâ™s National Healthcare Safety Network (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (required within 1 year of hire)
  • National Association of Healthcare Quality (Preferred)
  • Current Florida RN license
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (required within 1 year of hire)

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director, Quality Services develops, manages, and implements infection prevention initiatives to meet the goals of Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center and Florida Hospital-Wauchula and affiliate clinics. Works closely with the Infection Control Practitioner to develop initiatives that will be used for benchmarking performance in patient outcomes and cost effective healthcare in designed areas as well as meeting requirements of Joint Commission, CMS, CDC and other applicable Federal, State and local regulatory/or accrediting agencies.
