The Department of Pathology and Anatomy at the Eastern Virginia Medical School seeks qualified applicants for a full time salaried faculty position as a medical educator at the INSTRUCTOR level. EVMS offers a broad range of programs and areas of concentration in education, research and patient care. This community based medical and health profession’s school provides ample opportunities for leadership and professional growth for those interested in developing their career as a medical educator. The successful candidate will join a collegial department that oversees several Health Professions Master’s programs including Contemporary Human Anatomy and Pathologists’ Assistant programs. The qualified applicant will assist in the development of a new Master’s program in histotechnology and provide histotechnology support to the EVMS biorepository.
Assist in developing a new Master’s program in histotechnology.
Serve as educational coordinator for histotechnology program.
Provide administrative and histotechnology support to EVMS biorepository.
Serve as lecturer and small group facilitator in graduate school courses.
Successful candidates shall have a Master’s degree or higher with practical histotechnology experience and ASCP certification in histotechnology.
Familiarity with the following techniques is preferred:
FISH/Flow cytometry (sample prep and software data analysis)
PCR (principles and techniques)
EM (tissue prep, specimen processing)
Fluorescence and confocal microscopy (principles and techniques)
