Oversees and monitors Graduate Medical Education (GME) accreditation compliance through the following activities:
Prepares documentation and supports the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and its meetings. Manages GMEC agenda and meeting logistics to ensure coverage of all GMEC responsibilities pursuant to ACGME requirements, institutional policies, and procedures. Maintains accurate and complete meeting minutes with annotations referencing specific ACGME institutional requirements for each GMEC action that fulfills accreditation requirements, monitors membership, records and tracks attendance of all GMEC meetings.
Oversees the administrative process and provides council to faculty and staff related to GMEC responsibilities including new program requests, changes in resident/fellow complement, program structure/duration, program directors, participating sites, institutional GME policies and procedures, annual recommendations to the Sponsoring Institutionï¿½s administration regarding resident/fellow stipends and benefits, applications for ACGME accreditation of new programs, responses to Clinical Learning Environment Review reports, requests for exceptions to clinical and educational work hour requirements, voluntary withdrawal of ACGME program accreditation, request for appeal of an adverse action by an ACGME Review Committee, and presentations to an ACGME appeals panel. Ensures complete and accurate GMEC membership, pursuant to ACGME institutional requirements.
Functions as the coordinator for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and serves as institutional review coordinator, and ensures compliance with Program Letters of Agreement required for site reviews.
In collaboration with GME and residency program leadership, ensures ACGME regulations, health care facility policies, and GME institutional compliance including appropriate submission of program and resident status letters, progress reports, surveys, audits, or other letters that maintain accreditation requirements.
Oversees ACGME Annual Data System (ADS) system for the Institution, and provides technical assistance to programs completing program and resident submission and updates pursuant to ACGME requirements.
Maintains and updates GME office ACGME accreditation and GMEC records for accredited programs.
Maintains records of all accreditation communication and actions.
Provides counsel to programs and assures program compliance with ACGME ADS updates, ACGME resident & faculty survey, and milestone submission.
Analyzes and compiles institutional and program statistical data for the Annual Intuitional Review (AIR).
Assist programs and institution to prepare for all accreditation visits, including institutional site visits, program site visits and Clinical Learning Environment visits. Reviews documentation for ACGME RRC site visits.
Functions as the ACGME site visit coordinator and interacts will investigators, auditors, and all residency programs.
Develops and maintains Special Review documentation. Functions as a liaison with affected staff and site reviewer.
Schedules, assigns, and ensures appropriate Special Review Committees including ACGME required members for each review for accredited programs.
Coordinates internal audits/mock site visits of all GME residency and fellowship programs to ensure initial and continued compliance with accreditation guidelines with ACGME and all other governing agencies for graduate medical education.
Manages the development and maintenance of various databases to ensure overall compliance with accreditation standards and enrollment management support for GME programs. Maintains and updates accreditation aspects of residency management system.
Responsible for Academic Support for the Office of GME. Provides overall administrative direction and support for the DIO, Associate Designated Institutional Official, and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and manages the academic office of GME.
Develops agendas, obtains relevant materials, and ensures timely review of documentation for the program coordinator meeting.
Develops and provides training for program coordinators, program directors, Residents, and faculty related to administrative processes and accreditation compliance.
Participates on local committees relevant to personal professional development.
Other duties as assigned to support accredited programs and the GME office.
Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in Business, Education, Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree preferred.
2. Five years progressively more responsible experience in a health care system, hospital or other similar complex organization subject to intense external regulations, with at least three years of direct involvement with senior management and outside entities regarding compliance with external standards.
3. Experience in the use of personal computers.
