The Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Medical Center at East Orange, New Jersey is a general, surgical and research medical center. Located in majestic Northeastern NJ within the greater New York metropolitan area and only 30 minutes away from New York City.
We have an opening for a Chief of Oncology/Hematology services. The Section is the sole referral site for veterans with hematology and/or oncology diagnoses for the state of New Jersey. The department actively participates in clinical research and is an affiliate member of ECOG-ACRIN through the University of Pennsylvania. We are a major teaching hospital of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
There is an active outpatient clinic, chemotherapy infusion suite, and inpatient ward. The hospital is remodeling to construct a state-of-the-art Comprehensive Oncology Center with Medical, Radiation and Surgical Oncology on site. The Section works closely with other oncology services and with Palliative Care.
Preferred candidate: Have an established track of funded research, experience with working with both NCI cooperative groups and with pharmaceutical trials, academic rank of Associate Professor or higher, teaching, and ability to mentor younger colleagues and trainees. Background in translational science, molecular genetics, interdisciplinary research, clinical trials, are a plus.
