This position is responsible for the facility’s Risk management activities, which include coordinating the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, & interfacing with defense legal counsel/hospital committees and groups prn. This position is accountable for investigation of sentinel events, RCA’s, and generating unusual occurrence reports, managing/analyzing risk management data and conducting any risk management education programs for the facility. Utilizes clinical experience to monitor, review, and evaluate patient care against established criteria and guidelines. Performs/coordinates other Risk Management activities at the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel and/or the Assistant Vice-President of Quality Management. Also assists with the completion of Quality & Safety functions throughout the facility.
EDUCATION: Required Registered Nurse license in the state of Tennessee with extensive experience in clinical nursing and knowledge of continuous quality improvement, risk, & safety. College degree required. Prefer Professional Certification such as Certified Professional in HealthCare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM). Additional training in computer applications and/or statistics also a plus.
EXPERIENCE: One to three years’ healthcare experience. One to three years’ data analysis experience. MIDAS+ user experience strongly preferred, as is knowledge of clinical research design and reporting techniques.
SKILLS: Thorough computer expertise including database and statistical analysis programs. Ability to learn new software quickly. Must process ability to work well under pressure, to function independently and dependently, utilizing critical thinking skills. Proven problem solving and process skills with ability to persuade and negotiate.
