This position is a key role for implementing Banners Compliance Program and its related policies, procedures, processes and activities. Based on area of assigned responsibility, assists and works in partnership with their assigned compliance leader in actively managing compliance-related matters by region, business area or facility. Such matters include, but are not limited to, helping develop and distribute compliance documents, providing compliance training and education, conducting compliance investigations and reports, collecting or performing monitoring results, and collecting or performing auditing activities, responding to allegations of improper or illegal activities, independently managing specific areas of compliance program activities as assigned, and investigating and facilitating remediation of identified systemic problems.
As assigned, provides answers and support to system, divisional, regional and facility leadership by managing the investigation and analysis of highly complex and sensitive questions, concerns and complaints related to compliance matters. Ensures that reasonable steps are taken by applicable Banner team member to respond timely and appropriately to compliance issues and concerns.
In consultation with others in the Compliance and Legal Departments, manages Banners response to governmental or other third-party audits, investigations or inquiries. Works with system-wide groups and committees to develop policies or processes to address identified issues.
Supports the system, division, regional or facility management staff by responding to and/or investigating questions or concerns, researching matters of note, providing training as necessary, and assist in developing processes and procedures with applicable Banner team members to remediate concerns or issues.
Stays knowledgeable on current compliance-related laws and regulations through personal initiative, seminars, training programs and peer contact.
Must possess a strong knowledge of business and/or health care compliance as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelors degree in programs such as: compliance, business administration, accounting/finance, or health care related field.
Requires knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to health care, regulatory compliance, federal payment programs such as Medicare/Medicaid and/or financial reimbursement systems as appropriate for assigned area.
Must possess and demonstrate strong planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with senior management team, physicians and federal and state governing bodies. Must also possess highly effective negotiation skills to communicate and interact with senior management team and physicians.
Master's degree and/or professional designations preferred. Previous payer, health care or academic compliance experience preferred as relevant to the assigned area.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
