Manages assigned personnel, daily operations and related activity in partnership with the Ops Nurse Manager / delegate in the Emergency Department, as well as takes an active role in hospital capacity management and patient throughput. Works in partnership with the Emergency Medicine Director and Physician staff, Inpatient Nursing Units, and EMS personnel to provide administrative and staff support to the operations of the Emergency Department. Duties and responsibilities include contributing to the development of, and providing support to, the vision and goals of the division/system programs of the Emergency Department. Responsible for implementation of ED Evidence-Based Practices, information technology, materials management, emergency department facility needs, equipment needs, quality management, risk management and safety, accreditation, billing, budget, financial management, operational analysis and reporting within the Emergency Department. Performs all duties to achieve the highest level of overall efficiency and service levels within the Emergency Department.
Provides local oversight and management of Emergency Department capacity management and is directly accountable for measurement and strategic improvement of ED flow metrics. Partners with Administration to ensure hospital capacity plan is implemented in time of need.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
