The Privacy Compliance Specialist I performs various Privacy Compliance, General Compliance and Administrative duties, and is expected to have or acquire knowledge of regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures. A qualified candidate should also be able to communicate effectively and possess initiative, foresight, creativity, good judgment.
Duties of the position include assisting with risk assessments and audits to determine compliance with governmental regulations, responding to routine and low risk incidents, complaints, and amendments, promoting the Health System's mission, values, and Standards of Conduct; and displaying excellent customer service skills.
Reports directly to the Chief Privacy Officer or the Assistant Privacy Officer and reports administratively to Chief Assurance Officer.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and regulations.
Demonstrates ability to read and interpret regulations and policies.
Demonstrates ability to investigate issues, perform a root cause analysis and risk assessment, and make recommendations regarding mitigating and corrective actions.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrates organization, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
Must be self-motivated and a quick study.
Demonstrates the ability to handle the demands of new tasks/assignments/projects, along with other routine responsibilities.
Demonstrates ability to establish priorities and work independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field required.
Experience in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
Skilled at developing and maintaining good working relationships.
Proficient in computer skills required for internet research and standard office processes.
