The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) has an exciting position available – Director of Quality. This position will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of the quality initiatives of the Association, including establishing and implementing a plan for emerging areas of performance measurement and quality improvement. The quality initiatives will contribute to building the occupational therapy knowledge base, articulate the cost effectiveness of occupational therapy, and support quality practice through measurement.
Specific projects may be related to:
Identifying opportunities for future quality measurement and quality improvement projects
Providing leadership for quality and performance measures projects
Serving as a subject matter expert on assigned projects
Leading and facilitating engagement with internal and external stakeholders(e.g. NQF; AHRQ; CMMI)
Writing, contributing to and editing reports and materials of the Association
Supporting AOTA Executive Management in implementation of strategic initiatives; participating in the development of organizational policies and procedures; and supporting organizational improvement and enhancement groups and activities
Identifying opportunities for future projects and/or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; presenting AOTA Quality projects and representing the organizational mission and goals at outside meetings and conferences
Identifying and securing funding for quality projects (when appropriate)
The successful candidate should have experience in performance measurement (with a special emphasis on measure development), measurement testing methodologies, and analyses. The candidate should have strong leadership, management and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple large projects effectively. Initial certification as an occupational therapist is preferred, but candidates with an excellent track record in health and healthcare quality will be considered. PhD or equivalent degree in occupational therapy, public health or other compatible field is highly desired. Requires a minimum of 6 to 10 years of related work experience in quality improvement, measures and measurement with progressive responsibility, or a combination of formal education and experience. Volunteer leadership in Association activities is desirable.The candidate must be technologically proficient in a Windows environment.
