The Director of Business Development is responsible for field sales for this growing group purchasing organization. Value First is part of the world’s largest GPO, ProVista, and focuses exclusively on the senior living industry. The Director of Business Development focuses on growth and development of Value First at a regional level in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Mexico; with a primary focus on Texas due to the concentration of membership in that state. The Director of Business Development is responsible for recruiting new Value First users, establishing relationships to retain and expand existing users, working in collaboration with other Value First business development managers around the US, as well as working in close collaboration with LeadingAge Texas’s VP of Member Services & Operations and other staff, as well as staff of LeadingAge affiliates in other states. This position requires approximately 75% travel at a regional level, with periodic trips to Value First Headquarters in Minnesota and to national conferences. (www.valuefirstonline.com).

Actively grows Value First users according to established goals, by acquiring new members and penetrating existing member sales more deeply
Educates members on purchasing best practices through education and presentations
Conducts purchasing needs assessments using VF tools and resources
Facilitates costs studies of new and existing VF users
Uses a consultative selling approach for VF vendors in janitorial, sanitation, nutritionals, medical, outsourced services, office supplies, materials management, etc.
Reviews member/customer contracts to protect and grow new and existing revenue streams
Maintains regular account contact to ensure positioning and alignment of Value First, and manages day-to-day interactions with members in the region
Meets or exceeds monthly sales revenue goals, through member contacts and visits, cost studies and Value First contracts
Actively solicits members to participate in group purchasing programs
Gives presentations to potential new customers, board members, and staff
Analyzes market data on demographics, membership trends, and other information to determine member needs and design and/or revise selling/marketing strategies and programs, as indicated
Develops cost studies and creates related marketing materials
Works collaboratively with other Value First Business Development managers in other states
Works collaboratively with staff of LeadingAge Texas and Gulf States, its member organizations and business partners
Demonstrated experience in field sales, with demonstrated growth in sales and in establishing and achieving revenue sales goals
Strategic and critical thinker, and ability to quickly understand member needs for GPO services
Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills
Highly organized and able to manage time efficiently and effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to coordinate with diverse constituents, including members, staff and board and members of LeadingAge Texas and Gulf States
Excellent knowledge of the English language including correct use of spelling, grammar and punctuation is required, as well as the ability to compose business correspondence
Demonstrated mastery of client relationship management software, i.e., Salesforce, word processing, spreadsheet, graphic and database software
Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to travel regularly and frequently
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in field sales, with preference in a group purchasing organization
Extensive experience with regular travel in a field sales position
Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
WORKING CONDITIONS: Extensive travel required within Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Mexico with periodic travel outside the region. Air and car travel required. Potential for work from home position with minimum of at least twice monthly requirement to be in the LeadingAge Texas administrative office in Austin.
