The Health Informatics Director reports directly to the Health Informatics System Director Clinical Informatics and is responsible for leading a team of assigned Enterprise Clinical Informaticists and other Health Informatics associates responsible for analyzing, developing, coordinating and maintaining standardized clinical content supporting clinical ordering/documentation, clinical decision support, and quality/patient safety indicator reporting. Utilizing perspectives of quality, physician ordering patterns, nursing and ancillary practice, clinical workflow, clinical throughput and safety, the Health Informatics Director will work to leverage clinical technology, clinical information systems (CIS) and informatics to achieve the goals of improving quality, reducing cost and improving efficiency associated with the delivery of clinical care throughout CHRISTUS Health. Responsibilities will include training, mentoring and coaching Health Informatics associates on their daily activities as well as leading clinical information system projects and initiatives as assigned. The Health Informatics Director will research, develop, define and coordinate testing and implementation for new or enhanced content, functionality, and/or technology for evidence-based solutions to optimize the use of electronic medical records. This position is exempt.
Monitors, manages, and reports day-to-day operations to the System Director Clinical Informatics to support efficient and effective planning for resource utilization and prioritization of the body of work for which Health Informatics is accountable and responsible.
Provide leadership and oversight of the Health Informatics governance process and related committee/workgroup activities to ensure appropriate integration across care-giver disciplines and patient care transitions in the development and maintenance of evidence-based clinical content in new or existing health information system applications, including by not limited to: ordering, clinical documentation, and clinical decision support systems.
Provide oversight in the analysis and evaluation of current systems and procedures as well as the development of system design and workflow modifications for optimization of health information systems and processes.
Successfully manages a full workload across multiple-projects, while leading a team of assigned informatics associates.
Proactively engages with CHRISTUS business units, at all appropriate levels, to support the development and accomplishment of CHRISTUS strategies and clinical professional/quality goals and objectives.
Provides effective oral and written communication to all served by Health Informatics.
Supervise and motivate assigned direct reports.
Manage assigned associate's time and attendance/payroll.
Promotes the development of health informatics associates using counseling, teaching, and role modeling techniques.
Provides associate advice with interpreting and/or executing departmental and organizational standards, policies, and procedures to facilitate the goals and objectives of the organization.
Provide project management through the provision of clinical and workflow knowledge, expertise, and assignment of the appropriate human resources for the task.
May be required to travel to perform duties.

Requires Bachelor's degree in clinical/direct patient care delivery field
Master's degree preferred or three (3) years of previous management experience
Clinical informatics certification or 3 - 5 years experience in informatics

Ability to prioritize workload with attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work under constant deadlines with frequent interruptions and able to handle multiple duties.

Must be knowledgeable in basic office skills, including spelling, grammar, typing, data entry, as well as basic math. Requires a working knowledge of various computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of direct patient care delivery
3-5 years of experience with implementation of clinical information systems.
Previous experience leading large clinical information system implementation projects.
Significant experience in CIS governance design, clinician adoption and alignment
Applied experience in evidence based medicine content design and implementation
Strong Experience with CPOM and electronic clinical documentation implementation
Expertise with MEDITECH design and implementation is a plus
Valid Texas Driver's License
Registrations, certifications and/or licensures commensurate with related clinical field (i.e. RN, RPh, CPhT, MT, etc.)
