Summary of Job Function: Responsible for delivering the highest quality service to patients while coordinating and scheduling timely follow up appointments, retrieval of prescriptions from physicians, nurse practitioners, obtaining referrals and authorizations for upcoming service. Effectively communicate with physician office staff, internal departments and patients to assure a smooth scheduling process. Must be able to work independently with self-direction and motivation. Must possess problem solving and strong communication skills. Able to handle multiple priorities, focus on detail and customer service. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Job Qualifications: Must have ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing. Must have knowledge and experience in computer based programs; must be familiar with billing regulations and the billing process. Candidate must have familiarity with interpreting and understanding billing and related Accounts Receivable reports; interacting with registration, scheduling, physician offices, and internal/external individuals and entities that impact the reimbursement process. Five to seven years Hospital based experience preferred; prior facility/professional billing experience preferred. High level of interpersonal, customer service skills required. Ability to multi-task, coordinate patient appointments, registration and billing process with knowledge of various third party payer rules, regulations and requirements. Must have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of computer based registration and billing programs; fax, telephone, copier, calculator, all related office equipment.
