In collaboration with the Research Executive Committee, appointed by the Chief Scientific Officer/Executive Vice President (CSO/EVP), the Program Director of Major Research Initiatives provides operational and administrative oversight and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing strategic plans aimed at both the operational and administrative components of projects within Major Research Initiatives. The Program Director will evaluate and manage the implementation and operations of directives, including compliance and fiscal impact, and will partner with various individuals throughout Geisinger to expeditiously implement such directives.
The Operations Director incumbent has on-going responsibility for assuring continued support throughout the system and community of projects within Major Research Initiatives, as designated by the CSO/EVP, including the MyCode Community Health Initiative. The Operations Director is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and improving the efficiency of workflows for project operation pipelines and meeting professional standards and processes. Through engaging with clinical and community leaders, the Operations Director will develop a comprehensive strategy for managing these projects by providing day-to-day oversight, enhancing staff knowledge base, growing community awareness, and meeting enrollment and other project requirements. Using the available resources and partnering with Marketing & Communications, the Operations Director will lead engagement and enrollment campaigns to ensure patient-participant satisfaction and increase visibility of the MyCode Community Health Initiative and other major projects, as assigned.
The Operations Director reports directly to the CSO/EVP, with responsibility to the Research Executive Committee, including the Associate Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Research. The Operations & Administrative Director will provide accurate and concise information to the Executive Committee and contribute to strategic discussions and decisions for designated major research projects within Research.
The Operations Director will supervise designated direct reports involved in Major Research Initiatives, including but not limited to MyCode Operations Staff. The Director will also serve as a liaison and resource for various research institutes, centers, and departments to help coordinate key projects and standardize operational processes.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Biomedical or Clinical Research, Public Health, Business Administration or related field required.
Minimum of 7 years research or management experience in a research and/or clinical laboratory or major project environment or equivalent, relevant workplace experience required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in genomics programs preferred.
Experience in budgeting large, complex, multi-component projects and in management of funds from multiple sources.
Minimum five years’ experience managing and directing cross-functional teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment.
Travel throughout the system and sponsor(s), as required.
