Executive Bridge has been retained by Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (“PP”) www.plannedparenthood.org/stlouis to recruit the new Chief Executive Officer and President (“CEO”). PP has been the leading provider, educator, and protector of sexual and reproductive healthcare in the area for more than 85 years. This organization currently operates eight health centers located in the St. Louis metropolitan area, Fairview Heights, Illinois and Southwest Missouri, and one outpatient surgery center in St. Louis. With a total staff of 160, an operating budget of $15M and a dedicated Board, PP is one of the most respected organizations in public health and medical circles. The CEO reports to the 35-person Board of Directors. The executive team reports to the CEO and oversees administration, compliance, finance, operations, patient services, research, education, public policy, community engagement, development, marketing and communications. The CEO oversees strategic direction, thoughtful implementation, accurate communication, and successful achievement of all aspects of the organization’s goals. The CEO represents the mission in the community with our coalition partners, with the legislature and with existing and future donors. The CEO works in alignment and partnership with the local board as well as the Planned Parenthood Federation of America to ensure that all individuals can make informed decisions about family planning, sexuality, and reproductive health by providing comprehensive, safe, confidential, patient-centered, and affordable medical and educational services, and advocating for public policies that guarantee access to these services.
The successful candidate will be a transformational leader with a demonstrated passion for reproductive and sexual healthcare and education. With a track record of outstanding results in challenging environments, this proven leader will be known as having visionary skills and management talent. Qualifications include:
A minimum of 15 years of experience in managing an organization of similar size and complexity, preferably in some aspect of healthcare.
A results-oriented approach to leadership. Sound strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, and strong critical thinking that delivers clinical quality along with the creativity and innovation required to deliver on the core strategy. Enthusiasm, energy, and commitment to continuously improve and drive the organization forward. Tenacious, decisive and pragmatic.
Substantial healthcare administration and public policy background preferred; candidates with non-profit backgrounds should demonstrate successful delivery of earned-income strategies.
Experience managing a service-oriented organization effectively and with financial sustainability, and who is able to recruit, develop and retain top-notch employees.
Familiarity, experience, and passion for working with the diverse communities PP serves, including an appreciation for the assets of each community and understanding of the institutional barriers to health care that currently exist.
Recognized as a skillful relationship developer and communicator, with successful experience working with a board. Must be comfortable in development, fund-raising (six-figure gifts) and lobbying.
Demonstrated communications skills in oral and written formats. Confident public speaker and media savvy. Comfortable in intense, high-pressure situations
