This Clinical Nutrition Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, performance, safety and effectiveness of the Human Milk & Formula Lab programs for Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and Long Beach Medical Center including, but not limited to: Milk Lab technicians, enteral nutrition formularies, milk tracking software system, and the pasteurized human donor milk program.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership, expertise and management in the Human Milk & Formula Lab.
Leads the daily operations for the safe and effective provision of enteral formulas, human milk and medical foods.
Utilizes a Lean mindset, methods and management system to improve quality and operational efficiency including workflows, space design, and equipment selection.
Monitors technician productivity and determines staffing needs.
Ensures regulatory compliance with state and federal agencies and professional organization guidelines.
Demonstrates leadership which encourages and promotes a culture of patient safety.
Develops, implements and evaluates technician training and competency.
Develops and maintains medical staff and interdepartmental relationships which foster open communication and mutual respect.
Serves as a community resource.
3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting and demonstrated expertise in feeding room techniques and operations.
Experience in a pediatric acute care setting preferred.
Demonstrated leadership development.
Minimum of basic management and supervision skills.
Prior experience in a leadership role preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in clinical discernment and judgment.
The ability to work independently or with minimal guidance.
Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition science or related field. Master’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, Public Health, or Business Health Administration desired.
Active/current Registered Dietitian (RD) registration, also known as Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/N), confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
California Children’s Services paneling preferred.
